Llanymynech was declared winner of the Montgomeryshire Village Award 2018. Although divided by the border between Wales and England, the village united to showcase its facilities, businesses and - above all - community spirit. The judges were particularly impressed by the range of activities on offer and the residents' enthusiasm for their community.

The award is commemorated by a splendid slate plaque, now displayed on the wall of the Llanymynech Village Shop, and an oak tree planted at the Village Hall.

Carreghofa Community Council led the application with the support of Llanymynech and Pant Parish Council, celebrating the achievements of villagers on both sides of the border!
