Charles Darwin, famed biologist known for publishing 'On the Origin of Species', one of the most influential works in human history which popularised the Theory of Evolution which transformed how humans think about themselves, their past and their relationships with religion.

Charles Darwin was born and grew up in Shrewsbury just over the border and it is known that he came to Llanymynech to study. He would take trips to Llanymynech rock for research.

Charles Darwin was known to visit Llanymynech in July of 1831, mere months before his famed trip aboard HMS Beagle.

Llanymynech can claim to own a piece of human history and a piece of the story of the theory of evolution.
