Born in Birmingham in 1967, spent time as a child in South Africa before returning to UK.

A manufacturing engineer since 1984, having worked on many large capital projects in both the UK and many other European countries.

Usually engaged in the fields of power generation, defence aerospace propulsion systems, submarines and of course railways, specialising in design for manufacture, new product introduction and root cause analysis of non conformance.

Able to speak Dutch, French, German fairly fluently, with lesser abilities in Italian and Portuguese.

Married to Helen since 2023.
